1st Holy Communion
End of school term 2 is nearly approaching, and I can't wait for the school break to fly home to catch up with all the family we dearly miss! But just before taking off, I've got one more celebration cake to complete. This is a first holy communion cake for the special Alexa. Congratulations!

Barbie doll cake
Happy Birthday, beautiful Bridget!!!
My first attempt at making a pink barbie doll cake, hence this was a joy to make. The last time I held a barbie doll was many decades ago, so it was exciting to deal with things 'girly' again. One thing that a mom of two boys doesn't know is never try to give Barbie a new hairstyle, specially when there's no Barbie hairbrush in sight!First thing my 4 yr old son asked me when he saw the completed cake was were the legs inside the cake!

Cake making
At the end of each cake task, I often ask myself what is it about cake making that I enjoy the most, and my answers were always the same no matter how big or small the task was. Aside from liking an artistic challenge, it's also seeing the joyous reaction of whoever receives the cake, and it's very overwhelming to feel it. I celebrate in the fact that I am directly involved in making someone's day a little extra special, and I love the fact too that I can touch someone's life simply through a...cake! Hopefully, with all the cakes I've made I've etched in their memories a little reminder that it was their special day and that they too are very special.

Death Star Cake
The second cake for this same weekend was for Thomas who loves Star Wars. Here's my take for the Death Star:
Mermaid Cake
I had the pleasure of making two cakes this week - one of for a birthday girl and another for a birthday boy. Here's the mermaid cake for Sienna and I love going pink or anything 'girly'.

Sofia's and Luna's birthday
Happy birthday to Sofia and Luna - two sweet little girls who were born on the same day - and now they're both one year old!
Inspiration for their birthday cake was Sofia's favourite toy - a rocking dinosaur. I wish you both a fabulous and fun-filled year ahead!

Jamie's and Ethan's birthday
Our sweet boy Jamie's now four years old! He loves spending hours doing craft, painting, colouring and is attracted to the colour yellow! How I wish that packets of crayons and felt-tip markers come in single colours, so that we will not quickly run out of yellow!
Jamie was very lucky to share his birthday celebration with his good friend Ethan, who also turned four on the same month. Our craft-loving preschoolers opted for an art-themed party, with plaster painting as their main activity. The other side of the cake has Ethan's name on it, so that they appear to have their own separate cakes for photos (let me dig again for more photos and I'll post it soon).

School fete
($68)
I've been put to a challenge this year by being involved in running the cake stall at my son's school's spring fete. Two other wonderful and very supportive moms were behind planning and running this cake stall, and plenty more parents who donated their time selling cakes and sweets during the day. Above is the cake I donated for the big day.

Will & Anh's wedding
I'd be honoured if I could help in any way in my family member's big occasions, and one way I knew I could do good would be to make a wedding cake. So I was very thrilled that I could do it for my brother Will, just like how I contributed and made my brother Tristan's and Melinda's wedding cake last year. We made plans months ahead, and Anh and Will gave me detail descriptions on what to have on their cake - like the yellow ribbons, cascading flowers and the very cute 'Romeo & Juliet' inspired cartoons Will drew of themselves. However, a few months just before the wedding there became a slight change in plans, and I couldn't make their cake that week prior to the wedding. Thankfully, they both agreed that I could still help by making their cake topper, and we'd get someone else (Cupid's Delight) to bake their cake.
Anh and Will, congratulations to both of you! Wishing you a wonderful beginning, and love to last a lifetime. Wish you too a lifetime of happiness and fun-filled adventures. I'm very happy for both of you and love you very dearly!
love,
Jen

Baby shower cakes
I had a couple of requests for baby shower cakes, and they were both fun to make. One is for someone who clearly knows they're having a boy, and the other is keeping the gender a surprise. Congratulations to both happy couples!

Pink baby shower
Julie's having a girl! What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice, and everything nice of course! Let's think pink from now on! My good friend, who's expecting in a few weeks, had a fun baby shower made to pamper girls well - a relaxing massage and beauty treatment. Now, that's nice!

Little Mermaid
Ariel the Little Mermaid is one of the Disney Princesses, which also include Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Pocahontas, Belle, Mulan, Jasmine and the most recent addition Tiana. I think my favourite is Snow White, because she was in the very first movie I saw in a cinema. From memory, I was probably less than five years old then, and I can still clearly remember sitting in the cinema and listening to the seven dwarves sing "Hi ho." Ariel is cute and lovable too, just like the rest of the princesses.

Baby pink & white
I was thrilled and honoured to make Aoife's cake since meeting hermom. She requested for baby pink decorations for her beautiful baby girl. Baptism took place on a perfect and bright day, and Aoife looked very cute in her special baptismal gown.

Gogos Crazy Bones Cupcake
My eldest had been asking me for almost a year now when was he going to have his birthday party with his friends in school, for month after month there was someone else celebrating a birthday but never him. We loved talking about what birthday theme he would have in a year's time, and I was pleasantly surprised that he could wait that long. Although, there was one time he said to me that he'd like to celebrate it at any random month! Finally his birthday month had come, and I was thrilled to come up with what to surprise him and his little friends.
The boys went bowling, and they were joined too by the Gogos Crazy Bones gang - Mosh, Tremi to name a few I know. I knew very well these cupcakes' designs would certainly tickle them crazily!

Lovable Lucy
This was for the 3rd birthday of an adorable and sweet little friend, who I was told loves the colour pink and loves playing with an imaginary family of pigs - papa, mama and baby pigs. Oh, how cute!

Lightning Mcqueen Cake
For my son's 3rd birthday party, I wanted a car theme to show his love of wheels and speed. Lighning Mcqueen, of course, is the best pick, because he is speed!
